FARS GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP)

Fars GDP reached 9.762.956.891 USD in 2011which was about 4,2% of the total Gross National Product (GNP) so, Fars has been ranked fifth among other provinces. Added Value share and rank of five major economic activities in 2011 are as follow :

Comparing each province activity to the same activities performed across the country revealed that Fars ranks higher than other regions in the case of agriculture and natural gas and electric power supply.

The BASIC THEORY of FARS DEVELOPMENT

 

Fars basic theory of development has been approved by Spacial Planning Council in 2012 as follow :

  • Industrial activities development giving priority to the electrical industries, electronics, aerospace, information and communication technology (ICT), oil, gas, and petrochemical, downstream industries, agricultural processing and cpmlementary industries maily in the case of food and pharmaceutical industries, automotive and machine building, and export-oriented small and medium industries.

  • Development of infrastructures and establishing energy-intensive industries across the south-northem energy corridor.

  • Develoment of metallic, non-metallic, and decorative stones activities while focusing on development of exploration and minerals processing and export.

  • Development of tourism infrastructures considering historical, religious, natural, cultural, and healthy attractions.

  • Maintaining and rehabilitating of old buildings as well as religious and cultural constructions.

  • Regulation and rehabitation of handicrafts and Fars cultural goods productions.

  • Sustainable agricultural development, mainly in the case of strategic products, while focusing on development of technology and increase the productivy of water, soil and human ressources.

  • Quantitative and qualittive development in order to improve the agricultural products safety as well as development of organic farming to increase competitiveness in global market.

  • Development of greenhouse cultivation, medicinal, hoticultural, and industrial plants especially in the case of submarginal lands.

  • Superior services development with international performance, offering technical-engineering services, professional services, product support services, financial services (monetary transactions), trade and tourism services, and professional commodity exchange (emphasis on agricultural products).

  • Development and inforcement of modern commercial services regarding Shiraz international performances; active interaction with regional markets in order to create monetary, financial, and insurance centers.

  • Developing, enforcing and equipping road and rail networks (aims at connecting to the national high-speed rai network).

  • Developing, enforcing and equipping of Fars airports, particularly Shiraz airport, to facilitate the transportation of goods and passengers.

  • Development of information technology in order to decentralization of the Shiraz City.

  • Development of modern information and communication infrastructure (electronical City) considerng Shiraz as the center of electronics.

  • Decentralization of Shiraz and strengthening the rôle of medium and small cities.

  • Establishment of diversified economic, social, and cultural activities in rural areas in order to increase the participation rate and stop the immigration.

  • Improving higher education levels to develop international academic cooperation and also providing skilled manpower for both Fars province and country.

  • Infrastructure development in order to improve knowledge-based activities such as ICT, biotechnology and nanotechnology.

  • Developing and equipping health and medical education centers across the province and mainly in Shiraz as one of the main healthcare services centers including Ophthalmology and Organ Transplant.

  • Maintenance, modification, restoration, development and optimal useof natural ressources, environment, biodiversity, and genetic ressources.

  • Developing and strengthening of defense and security sectors of Fars province as the south region defense support center.
